- HoloWWW Web Hosting Questions
- If HoloNet is hosting my web page, do I have to dial in through HoloNet?
- No, you do not. While you may certainly use HoloIP Service to connect to the Internet, you can use HoloWWW service through any Internet service which will permit you to use a web browser and an FTP client.
- Can I get the "referer" logs for my web site?
- The "referer" information is not available in HoloWWW server logs. However, if you would like to capture that information, you can do so using CGI scripts. Please see the CGI Anywhere page for details.
- What are the maximum number of simultaneous connections for my site?
- The maximum number of simultaneous connections is the number of connections
that can be opened to your Web site at once. A connection is opened for each file downloaded, and mutltiple connections may be opened when a page is downloaded. For example, a visitor hitting an HTML page with 2 images on it will open 3 connections. Each connection stays open until the file is transferred or the connection is broken.
The maximum number of connections allowed is the speed of your service (bandwidth level) divided by 1200bps.
Without a limit on the maximum number of simultaneous connections, service
could degrade to the point where it could take an unreasonably long time
to download a page.
If the maximum number of simultaneous connections for your site is exceeded, additional connections are turned away. By default, a notice will be e-mailed to you if a turn away occurs.
To increase the maximum number of simultaneous connections, increase the
bandwidth level of your site. To reduce the length of connections, reduce
the size of your pages and files.
See the HoloWWW Rates Page for HoloWWW bandwidth levels and pricing.
