E-Mail, Logging and Special Options

E-Mail - Merchant Notification

-[eE] address[,address2,address3]
This option sends an e-mail to the specified address detailing the transaction whenever an item is purchased. Multiple comma separated e-mail addresses can be specified. Note that there should be no spaces between the comma separated addresses.

If a capital "E" is used for the flag, then the customer's credit card number will not be included in the e-mail message. You may wish to use this option for security reasons as the e-mail messages sent are not encrypted.

E-Mail - Customer Receipt

-r [filename]
When this flag is present, the customer is presented with an "E-mail" field to fill out with the rest of their billing information. After a purchase is made, a standardized receipt detailing the purchase is sent to the e-mail address that was provided. Additionally, this e-mail address is recorded for the use of the merchant.

If "filename" is specified, the text of this file will be added to the end of the body of the standard e-mail message.

Logging Transactions

-lt file

This option will log all purchases in the file specified. The first lin e will be a list of fields, and all further lines represent purchases. Lines are tab delimited. Any tabs inside of fields are converted to spaces before logging.

Special: The "-remoteNotify" Flag

-remoteNotify remoteURL errorURL errorEmail

Note:
This flag requires a setup fee to become active, and charges a fee for each purchase. Please contact us for pricing.

When the "-remoteNotify" flag is present, the URL "remoteURL" is "touched" by the HoloStore (a "HTTP GET" command is issued by the server) after each successful purchase, and all the relevant parameters pertaining to the transaction is passed to the remote site. This allows you to use a HoloStore to purchase services you may have on web sites that are not on HoloNet.

"remoteURL" presumably is a cgi script that interprets the HoloStore parameters (passed in the query string, e.g., "remoteURL?parameters") and grants access to a remote service.

If the HoloStore is unable to touch "remoteURL" (for example, due to a network failure), the client is redirected to "errorURL". That URL should be a page that notifies the client that they have been successfully charged but that access may not be available for some period time (for example, within 24 hours).

In the case of such a failure, an e-mail message with all the relevant transaction parameters is sent to the e-mail address "errorEmail". The recipient of this message must manually grant access to the client.

Note:
It would be wise for "errorURL" to be on HoloNet, or on a site with a provider that is different from the provider of the "remoteURL" site, so that the odds of both URLs being unreachable is minimized.

An example CGI script which displays parameters is available at:
remoteNotify.cgi?a=1&b=2 (executable, for an Apache server)
remoteNotify.txt (text)
