Anonymous FTP Downloads & Uploads

Internet users can access the "pub" directory of your site via "anonymous FTP".

To access your site the user would use an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) client and login into "ftp.yoursitename.holowww.com" with an account name of "anonymous" and a password of their e-mail address. The e-mail address is not verified.

Downloads

Onced logged in, users can download any files in your "pub" directory and its subdirectories.

Many Web browsers such as Netscape and Microsoft's Internet Explorer can also retrieve files via FTP. For example, if you had a file named "test.zip" in your pub directory, any user could down load it with the URL: "ftp://www.yoursitename.holowww.com/pub/test.zip"

Uploads

You can enable and disable anonymous uploads from the Configure Options page of the web Account Administration pages. Enabling uploads creates a folder named "uploads" in the "pub" directory. Anyone may get and put files in the "uploads" directory, but only the user designated as "root" will be able to list the names of the files in this directory.

Once per day HoloWWW will check if there are any files in this directory and e-mail you a report if there are.

Disabling this option deletes the "uploads" directory.
